FAQs
Do you have a current library card from another SELCO library (other than Rochester Public Library) already? If so, you won't need another card as the one you have will work at all SELCO libraries. We can renew it and make any needed changes if it is not up to date.
To register for a library card, please fill out the library's Borrower Registration form in full and present a valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state, military, or student ID) verifying who you are and your current local address. If you do not have such an ID, please provide one of the following as proof of current address: Postmarked bill or letter, Rental or lease agreement or receipt, or Property tax statement.
Printed registration forms are available at the library upon request.
Your Borrower ID is the 13 digit number below the barcode on your library card. When entering your Borrower ID online, do not include any spaces between the numbers.
Try the last 4 digits of your phone number. If this does not work, please ask library staff to check for you.
Yes, you can. They will be checked in and returned to the owning library through our daily delivery service. The only exception is Rochester Public Library. They have a different automation system from the rest of the SELCO public libraries, so we are not able to actually “check their items in” at our library. Their procedure, however, is to backdate items they receive from other libraries through delivery by one week which should allow for delivery time and prevent your item from being considered overdue.
No, they don’t. They remain the same all year round.
Yes, you can. Magazines go out for 3 weeks.
Yes, you can. You may use one of the library's cover sheets if you wish and then we will fax your documents for you. If it is a long distance call we will charge you $1 for the first page and 50 cents each page thereafter. We will not charge you for the cover page.
You will be charged 25 cents per page for faxes received. The library’s fax number is the same as the main phone number: 507-867-3480.
Not anymore!
If an item is not returned or is damaged, the borrower will be charged a replacement fee.
Some other libraries still charge overdue fines, however. So, if you borrow an item through interlibrary loan or directly from another library, and the library that owns that item charges overdue fines, you would end up with an overdue fine if you return that item late.
