You made a big Splash @ the Library this Summer!

We made a Splash at our Library!  Chatfield area youth made a big SPLASH at the Library this summer!!  You’ll find 79 water drops on the windows at the top of the stairs at the library.  That’s a water drop for every 1,000 minutes that participants read or were read to this summer!  Kids kept track and turned in reading logs to earn banana bucks.  The library’s renowned “banana bucks” were used to buy a variety of great prizes.  The kids logged in 79,800 minutes of reading during June and July.  That’s fabulous!!

Two reading logs were randomly drawn from all those that were turned in this summer.  Draven Hendershot and Hannah Paul were the lucky winners each of a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card.  Congratulations to all our great readers for making such a big SPLASH at the Library!

Chatfield teens were also busy reading this summer.  They logged in a total of 25,207 pages of reading!  Congratulations go to Keagan Clarke, Alli Hanson, Shammah Butler, and Deanna Danielson – all winners of a $35 prepaid American Express gift card.

2010 Summer Reading Program

Make a Splash at your library this summer!

A variety of great events are planned for the Library’s Summer Reading Program this year!

Summer reading logs will be available at the library beginning June 15th.  Youth are invited to start logging the time they spend reading or being read to beginning that day.  Completed logs can be exchanged at the library for our famous “banana bucks” to “buy” all kinds of great prizes.

Preschool storytimes will take place at the library Friday mornings at 9:30am on June 18, July 2, 9, 23, and 30.  Elementary programs will take place at the library on Tuesdays at 1:00pm, June 22nd through July 27th

Mark your calendars for the following extra special events to be held at the library:

June 25, 10:00am – Magician Star Michaelina (Comedy Magic Show)

July 6, 1:00pm – In the Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre (Coyote Stories)

July 16, 10:00am – RAD Zoo (Reptile & Amphibian Discovery Zoo)

July 20, 1:00pm – National Eagle Center (Eagle Program with live eagle)

July 27, 1:00pm – The Rose Ensemble (The Last Queen of Hawaii – Hawaiian culture through music, movement, and storytelling)

The library would not be able to offer these great programs without generous funding from the Chosen Valley Community Foundation and the Arts and Cultural Heritage Library Legacy Fund.  Prizes and incentives were purchased with funds from our benevolent Friends of the Chatfield Public Library.

It’s going to be a great summer!  Join us!
