Jack Pearson

Singer and storyteller Jack Pearson

Friday, June 19th at 10:00am

Join us for a fun-filled musical celebration of books and imagination!

Jack Pearson describes himself as “. . . a songwriter with one foot in our American folk tradition and the other joyfully lost in the landscape of imagination.” Families are invited to come and experience Jack’s music and story experience of spirit, folklore and history on guitar, fiddle, 5-string banjo, mandolin, dobro and an assortment of small percussion instruments.

We are celebrating the Read to the Rhythm Summer Reading Program and the entire family is welcome to come and enjoy a program revolving around books and imagination. Librarian Becky Walpole, of Park Rapids, Minn., says, “Jack has shared his love of song and story with us for twelve years.  Jack is able to make each concert new and exciting and is definitely the highlight of our Summer Reading Program.”

Jack was born in California but spent his growing up years in Alexandria and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He lives with his wife Nancy on the upper Mississippi in Minneapolis and has performed for kids and families in the Upper Midwest and around the country since 1979. He makes good pancakes, loves to read, and wears suspenders a lot.

This performance is free to the public and all are encouraged to come!

“I Love to Read” Program featuring Jack Pearson

Come see

Musician & Storyteller, Jack Pearson’s

“I Love to Read” program

Friday, July 6 at 10:00am

Jack Pearson has been blending songs and stories professionally for over thirty years. He plays guitar, banjo, and a host of little instruments with one foot in our folk tradition and the other lost in the world of reading and imagination. His recordings have won multiple Parents’ Choice awards. Jack brings a fun family experience of music and stories that focuses on books and the love of reading. There’s good variety and well-paced participation as he explains how reading opens the twin doors of information and imagination no matter age or interests. He can adapt to any age group and is known for a show that touches old and young alike.

The sheer joy of settling down with a good book shines through Jack’s very special assembly of tunes and tales.  Please join us for this exciting program in our nice cool basement program room.

This project funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Art and Cultural Heritage Fund.
