How do I download an ebook through the library?

So you have your new eReader … now what?!

Download eBooks for free using your library card!

You can start searching for free downloadable eBooks and audios by clicking on the “download audiobooks, eBooks” Overdrive graphic  toward the right side of this page.  It looks like this:   

Once you are on the Overdrive page, you’ll find help under “Getting Started” on the left side of the page, near the top.

You will have to provide your library card number (don’t put in any spaces when entering it) in order to request and check out Overdrive titles.  More titles are being added every week, so check back often!  If there are no copies available of a title that you want (all copies are checked out), it is a good idea to place a request on it.  You will be notified by email when it becomes available for you to check out.  Downloadable eBooks are very popular and in high demand!

Download Audiobooks and eBooks Anytime, Anywhere

Best-selling and classic audiobooks and eBooks are now available 24/7 from http://selco.lib.overdrive.com.

You can browse the collection, check out with your library card, and download to PC, Mac®, and many mobile devices. To get started, you will need to install free software.  For audiobooks, download the OverDrive® Media Console™ and to read eBooks, you’ll need Adobe® Digital Editions. You’ll find links for these downloads along the left side of the download site (http://selco.lib.overdrive.com) under the Digital Software heading. You will only need to download this software once and then titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod®, Sony® Reader™, and many others. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees!
