Our official Summer Reading Kick-Off Event was held at the library on Friday, June 10th.  112 children and 44 adults attended!  (All who were unable to attend are invited to pick up this year’s Reading Folder at the library at your earliest convenience!)

We decorated bookbags, made puppets, refrigerator magnets, bookmarks, crowns, and started creating a gnome home.  Families registered for the summer’s program and picked up this year’s “log” which is a fun combination of games and reading “challenges” in a Reading Folder.  We also had ice cream with our choice of delicious toppings!

And if that wasn’t enough … the Chatfield United Methodist Church, St. Matthews Episcopal Church, and Community Volunteers provided lunch! On Wednesdays and Fridays this summer youth are invited to have LUNCH AT THE LIBRARY!  They are encouraged to bring a sack lunch or have one provided to them by volunteers, served from the lower level of the library from 11:30-12:30. Thanks go to the United Methodist Church and Thrivent for funding this food program.

Our sincere thanks to Library Board members and volunteers for helping make this ambitious event such a success!
