Summer Reading Program very successful!

digintoreadingChatfield area youth spent a tremendous amount of time reading this summer!

YOUTH

1,745 reading logs, which equal a total of 3,054 hours of reading, were turned in by young readers during the months of June and July!  This is more than a 56% increase over last year’s impressive total of 1,955 hours!  Wow!!

Those who continued to read during the summer were not only rewarded with great incentives and the enjoyment of fabulous books from the library, but will surely also benefit, at the very least, from maintenance, if not improvement, in reading skills that will serve them well in the new school year.

Congratulations to Aviana Ruskell, Braydon Saltou, Ava Volker, and Aiden Johnsrud who each won a $15 Barnes and Noble gift card when one of their reading logs was randomly drawn out of all the reading logs turned in this summer!

Click HERE to see sets of photos from each of the programs we enjoyed this summer or simply click on any of the photos in the Photos section on the right side of this webpage and you will be taken to the library’s flickr page where you can see all the photos from our Summer Reading Program.

Our sincere thanks to all the parents and caregivers who encouraged their children to take part in our Summer Reading program this summer!

YOUNG ADULTS

Twenty-one teens took part in our 2013 Summer Reading Program this year, turning in a total of 144 reading logs!

Congratulations to all the teens who won prizes given away throughout the summer by answering Leslie’s library trivia questions!  And three cheers for Elizabeth Hisey who won a brand new Kindle HD when her reading log was randomly drawn out of all the reading logs turned in this summer!
