How do I download an ebook through the library?

So you have your new eReader … now what?!

Download eBooks for free using your library card!

You can start searching for free downloadable eBooks and audios by clicking on the “download audiobooks, eBooks” Overdrive graphic  toward the right side of this page.  It looks like this:

Once you are on the Overdrive page, you’ll find help under “Getting Started” on the left side of the page, near the top.

You can also click on any of the links below to view guides developed by SELCO staff:

Kindle eBooks

EPUB eBooks (Nook format)

Android and Apple Apps

Adobe Digital Editions

Kindle Fire App Instructions

Overdrive has created a series of videos, called The Overdrive Guided Tour,  to assist you in the following topics:

Welcome to your Library’s Virtual BranchIntroduction to Download Media
What are Digital Rights?
How to Install the Free Software
Portable Devices
Browse, Check Out, and Download
How to Place a Hold
Overdrive Media Console
How to Transfer to a Portable Device
How to Burn to CD
Adobe eBooks

You will have to provide your library card number (don’t put in any spaces when entering it) in order to request and check out Overdrive titles.  More titles are being added every week, so check back often!  If there are no copies available of a title that you want (all copies are checked out), it is a good idea to place a request on it.  You will be notified by email when it becomes available for you to check out.  Downloadable eBooks are very popular and in high demand!

Check it out!  And enjoy your new eReader or listening device!
