MINUTES OF THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY GENERAL MEETING
HELD ON JUNE 17, 2010
AT THE BOOK BARN, CHATFIELD, MINNESOTA
Present: Denise, Mimi, Sue, Donna & Elaine
Treasurer’s report: Savings account – $3,888.30; checking account – $809.48; SELCO account – $1,375.64. Expenditures included the pass through of the grant for $250 to Sassy Quilters for the flower quilt patch in front of the library and the gift certificates in recognition of the library staff. We received $159.25 from proceeds of the book sale, out of which we have to pay a percentage into the Western Days account.
We culled books and tidied the Book Barn, and ended the session with door prizes of plants. Out next meeting will also be at the Book Barn to finish shelving any donations of books prior to the Western Days opening. Elaine will be preparing a sign advising patrons that we cannot accept encyclopedias and Readers Digest condensed books.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE
FRIENDS OF THE CHATFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY
Held at the Chatfield Public Library
May 20, 2010
Present: Denise Mullen, Izzy French, and Elaine Stadum
Western Days book sales were $169.
Request from City for volunteers from Friends to take a turn at watering the flowering baskets downtown . Concern was expressed over the difficulty of taking on this responsibility because of the extremely small size of our group and the fact that so many of us work out of town. Monica will be sending out an e-mail on this request from the City.
June and July meetings will be at the book barn in order to clean and cull and shelve more books. Elaine will furnish door prizes for the June meeting: cookies and starter plants. Must be present to win and have dirty knees from pulling old books and shelving new ones! We will decide then whether or not to get rid of donated VCR tapes if they have not been selling.
We briefly discussed the problem of getting members to help clean and shelve at the Book Barn. Suggestions included calling the school to see if there was a community service requirement that could be fulfilled by helping us or asking for volunteers during National Volunteer Month (sorry, we missed it, Friends. It was April 2010).
Izzy expressed her gratitude for Ardis Hurley and her bridge club for funneling good used books to the library and suggested a formal recognition of her efforts from the Friends. Denise will send out a thank you note later this year at the time suggested by Izzy.
Respectfully submitted on
